WB: the character assessment
The USCA January 2025 WB regulations cover observations including social behavior, noise response, movement confidence and play. They explicitly state that an IGP test does not replace the character assessment.
The document’s ordinary participation window is at least nine months and not yet thirteen months. Special circumstances and repeat assessments need the applicable rules and organizer’s confirmation; do not treat this short summary as permission to enter outside the normal window.
BH-VT is a separate test
BH-VT belongs to the working-dog trial framework and includes companion-dog obedience and traffic-related behavior assessment. It is distinct from WB and from the three-phase IGP title.
The practical consequence is simple: an event advertising one of these does not necessarily offer the others. Check the entry form rather than assuming a general “trial weekend” covers everything you need.
A breed survey brings several records together
GSDCA’s referenced SV-program document lists requirements spanning identity, working qualifications, health certification and show evaluation. It is a June 2023 document, so use it as a map of the paperwork involved and verify current requirements before relying on it.
Ask which organization’s survey is being offered and which qualifications it accepts. Recognition across systems should be checked explicitly. A dog’s long list of titles does not automatically resolve every administrative requirement.
Your event inquiry checklist
Send the secretary the dog’s registered identity, age on the event date and the exact assessment you want. Ask for the current rules and a list of required documents. You can then resolve gaps before travel or entry expenses.
