Inside the Index: what our records actually show.
A reproducible look at the published dog directory: competition coverage, sourced parentage and how to interpret the gaps.
The current sample
The saved directory contains 184 dog profiles and 28 country labels. 140 profiles have a documented result in one of the 6 competition classes below. These counts describe our selected records, not the German Shepherd population.
| Class | Dog profiles with results |
|---|---|
| 2026 BSZS · Adult long-coat males | 25 |
| 2026 BSZS · Adult stock-coat males | 25 |
| 2026 BSZS · Adult stock-coat females | 25 |
| 2025 GSDCA National · AKC males | 10 |
| 2025 GSDCA National · AKC females | 7 |
| 2025 WUSV · IGP World Cup | 48 |
A dog's country can mean the owner country in a show result, a national team in a catalog, or a breeder location. Those labels should not be treated as verified current residences or compared as national breeding totals.
What a pedigree connection establishes
109 profiles have a named sire and dam together with a recorded pedigree source and status. This means the parent pair is documented in that source. It does not establish DNA verification, a complete multigeneration pedigree or a coefficient of inbreeding.

Matching names are navigation aids within the source records. Registry identifiers and original documents should be checked before treating similar names as the same animal.
Why one result is not a career rating
A show finish belongs to a class; an IGP score belongs to a trial. Comparing a VA award directly with a three-phase sport total would erase the different questions each event asks. The independent rating therefore uses separate boards and requires reviewed results across events before publishing a score.
How this analysis was produced
Counts are calculated from the saved public dog records and reviewed result file used to build this release. Parentage counts require both parent names, a source URL and a pedigree status. Competition counts require the named class and a published result. The linked class pages and profiles provide the underlying records.
The event directory separately holds 139 saved calendar entries. Calendar presence is not evidence that an event occurred or that a listed dog participated. Missing health, pedigree or result evidence remains unknown.
