A stud advertisement helps you find an owner. Deciding whether a pairing is appropriate requires substantially more evidence and professional judgment.
Start with the female and the purpose
Write a short brief describing the proposed pairing’s purpose and the information already available about the female. Then identify the questions a prospective male would need to answer. This prevents a spectacular photograph or a celebrated result from defining the whole search.
Keep a short comparison list with the same fields for each candidate. If one owner supplies complete documentation and another supplies only adjectives, record that difference in evidence rather than pretending the profiles are equally complete.
Ask for records you can match
Request identity and pedigree documentation, the actual health reports relevant to the discussion, and source records for claimed titles. Match them to the dog before forwarding them to your veterinarian or mentor. Ask for clarification where a date, identifier or result is missing.
Responsible-breeding guidance from AKC includes choosing a suitable mate, pre-breeding health checks and a stud contract. The practical details should be agreed by the parties and reviewed with appropriate professionals; a directory listing cannot settle them.
Keep an inquiry specific
An effective first message names the female, explains the intended purpose and asks whether the owner is open to discussing the pairing. Include links to relevant records rather than a long list of unsupported claims. Do not send unnecessary private documents through a public comment or listing.
Discuss availability, location and the proposed service before making travel plans. Ask for written terms that explain what each party is responsible for. This guide is an inquiry framework, not veterinary or contract advice.
How our stud section works
Stud advertisements are separate from the dog index and its event rankings. A ranked dog does not become an available stud automatically. Owners submit an advertisement and evidence for review; paid inclusion does not improve a competition position.
An ownership badge identifies an ownership-review step. It is not a recommendation of a particular mating. Read the advertisement’s supporting evidence, use the owner’s inquiry link, and make the decision with the people qualified to assess your actual dogs.
